Working with students and for students: Meathead Movers supports their academic and athletic lifestyle
“Look at those meatheads over there,” the female athletes said in the locker room, pointing to siblings and student athletes Aaron and Evan Steed. “Thank you,” the Steed brothers said.
In 1997, two brothers who attended San Luis Obispo High School needed a little extra money to save for their daily needs. Aaron and Evan, a wrestler and soccer player, were looking for flexible employment that would fit into their school and athletic schedules. One day, their friend’s parents were leaving their house and needed a few more hands on the bridge. Aaron and Evan were the first in line. They offered to lift their heaviest items and haul them for a small fee of $ 20 and a pizza.
Eventually, it was learned that these brothers were not only eager to help, but that they were also strong, honest and reliable. They told their friends to tell their parents that they were available to help with any type of move. Aaron and Evan’s phones began to explode with business. Once their reputation as reliable and muscular movers was established, they were able to save enough money to buy their own truck. Where are they now, you ask? Meathead Movers: San Luis Obispo’s toughest, toughest, smartest student athletes have come together to achieve one goal: to take care of your heavy lifting needs and move safely around your new home.
Also known as California’s largest independent moving company, Meathead Movers is gearing up for its busiest season of the year. This summer, several students are returning to SLO after not living here for a year! Freshmen are looking to move out of dormitories into their new residences on and off campus. Whatever your moving needs, Meathead Movers is the reliable solution.
Working with students and for students, Meathead aims to support academics and athletics by providing part-time employment opportunities. They are not looking for careers, but rather people who are looking for a stepping stone job to help them achieve their long term aspirations. Meathead recently increased his salary for student-athlete movers from $ 17 an hour. Preparing these students for their future careers is the priority. Driving commercial trucks, fulfilling contracts, learning best practices in fitness and nutrition, and creating resumes are just a few of the perks that Meathead offers. What else? Aaron Steed will personally call those responsible for recruiting his employees who will foster their dream careers.
Aaron and Evan understand what it’s like to be full-time students and they want to offer as much support as possible. Throughout this booming season, they are taking extra precautionary measures to make sure everyone is healthy and safe. They require their employees to wear masks and disinfect all heavily affected areas in trucks and warehouses. There are “inside and outside the warehouse” handwashing protocols, and they have separated their employees into “mobile teams” to minimize exposure to other workers and trucks. There are also health questionnaires that employees must complete every time they come into work.
