Weichert’s charity outing raises $ 100,000 for the American Cancer Society – Trentonian
MORRIS PLAINS – The Weichert family of companies raised $ 100,000 during their 21st annual charity outing to benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS) and breast cancer research. Proceeds from the event bring the grand total Weichert has raised for ACS and breast cancer research to a remarkable $ 1.737 million since the annual fundraiser began in 2001.
Although last year’s charity outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Weichert employees, associates, friends and sponsors still raised a collective donation of $ 25,000 for the cause in 2020. .
“We were delighted to safely host the 21st annual charity outing this year,” said Charity Committee Chairman Joe McDonald, Weichert Regional Vice President, Realtors. “We viewed 2021 as a rebuilding year for the event as the pandemic continues to affect our daily lives. But as always, we were overwhelmed by the incredible support and generosity of our friends, family, colleagues and Weichert sponsors who helped make this outing a success.
Held at the quaint Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, this year’s outing welcomed nearly 230 golfers, as well as dozens of participants who took advantage of a Member Day package, a paint and tasting program or of a golf clinic. All attendees enjoyed a three-hour buffet lunch and cocktail party featuring prizes and raffles, including a grand prize LCD TV.
Special guest speaker and breast cancer survivor Jessie Stern, a sales associate at Weichert, Realtors’ Monroe, NY, was a highlight of the charity outing. Stern shared his personal story with attendees, reminding listeners to be generous in supporting others who continue to struggle with the disease. “Hearing Jessie’s story was a poignant reminder that so many of us know someone who has been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer,” McDonald said.
According to McDonald’s, the annual golf outing is the epitome of the Weichert culture, which has always been about giving back to the community. Many Weichert, Realtors sales offices in the North East have held support events, while more than 70 organizations have supported fundraising through various forms of sponsorship.
